Drive Out Hunger
Monthly Food Drive
Since 2012, our "Drive Out Hunger" program has connected community donations with the people who need them most — collecting over 50,000 canned and non-perishable food items and distributing them across DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
About the drive
Feeding Our Neighbors, Every Month
Hunger does not take a month off, and neither do we. The Drive Out Hunger program runs every month, collecting canned goods and non-perishable food from local organizations and generous individuals — then getting that food directly to the people who need it.
The program supports our Homeless Advocacy and Support (HAAS) team by ensuring that homeless individuals and low-income families have direct access to the food collected. Distributions reach local churches and homeless shelters across the region — including the Weinberg Women’s Health Center in College Park, MD, morning feeds for the homeless in Washington, DC, and shelter food drives in Baltimore.
50,000+
canned and non-perishable food items collected since 2012 — helping feed thousands of individuals in our communities.

Our food drive reaches communities across three areas, focusing on those most affected by food insecurity:

Each November, we also hold a special annual food drive, collecting both food and monetary donations to reach even more families during the holiday season.
