Monthly Food Drive

Beatrice Loving Heart has taken on the challenge to ensure that we are actively addressing hunger in our community.

Our Drive Out Hunger Program is a program implemented in 2012 to support our Homeless Advocacy and Support (HAAS) Team. This program provides our HAAS team with direct access to food collected from local organizations and people like you. Since its establishment in 2012, thousands of individuals in our communities have been fed. Our HAAS Team is also active in homeless breakfast shelters across D.C. and Maryland. Most of our HAAS Team consists of consistent volunteers who share the same vision of eradicating hunger — starting within our communities.

Hunger affects not only homeless individuals in our communities but low-income housing families as well. Families across our communities face economic hardship that prevents them from being able to afford a decent meal.

                                                    Annual Food Drive

Beatrice Loving Heart had another successful year of hosting its Annual Food Drive. During November, BLH collects food and monetary donations to donate to a charity or organization each year. Last year, all donations BLH received were sent to “The Weinberg Women’s Health Center,” located in College Park, MD! The Agency collected enough boxes and bags of food to donate to the Center and distribute to a few of our participants. Employees here at BLH donated food and raised $290.00 of monetary donations. Giving back to the community is a part of our core values at Beatrice Loving Heart.

What We Are Doing to Assist

For decades, Beatrice Loving Heart has fed families across DC, Virginia, and Maryland. From the homeless morning feeds District of Columbia to the Baltimore homeless shelter food drives, our goal is to continue to impact the lives of families in need. With our Monthly Food Drive, we aim to combat hunger aggressively.

We implemented a Monthly Food Drive Initiative to fast track our commitment to drive out hunger within our community. Since the start of this initiative, our team has collected over 50,000 canned and non-perishable food items. All items were then distributed to a local church and several homeless shelters in Maryland that assisted community members year-round.
